On September 7, Class 3 of the 2025 cohort at Peking University’s School of Electronic and Computer Engineering held a meeting to mark the start of the new academic year, review the class’s progress over the past year and strengthen ties among its members. Class adviser Daquan Zhou and the students visited the Baidu Building, where they reflected on the past year, discussed emerging technologies and talked about their plans for the year ahead.

Reflecting on Progress and Building a Stronger Class Community
At the start of the meeting, class representative Shuo Li presented a review of the past academic year, outlining the class’s work in organizational development, ideological development, academic culture and social engagement.
Over the past year, the class continued to develop with guidance from faculty members and the combined efforts of its students. Students actively participated in student affairs and group activities, supported one another in coursework and research, and conducted research in areas including artificial intelligence, computer vision, generative technologies and network communications, fostering a collaborative academic environment. The class also organized company visits and industry exchanges, giving students firsthand exposure to the industry and broadening their understanding of the field.

Exploring the Lab and the Frontiers of Technology
The students later toured the laboratory with Daquan Zhou, gaining a closer look at cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence. Drawing on the laboratory’s research, Zhou highlighted recent advances in embodied intelligence.His presentation, which covered topics ranging from cutting-edge research to real-world applications, gave students a clearer understanding of developments in embodied intelligence and broadened their perspective on the field.
Planning for the Future
As the students enter their second year of graduate study, research, internships and career opportunities are becoming increasingly important considerations.Discussing career planning and preparations for next year’s job search, Zhou drew on industry trends and his own experience, encouraging students to identify their career goals early, stay informed about industry needs, strengthen both their professional and practical skills, and prepare thoroughly for the future while continuing their research. The meeting served both as a reflection on the class’s past year and as a starting point for the new academic year.Through discussions ranging from their shared progress and emerging technologies to careers and future plans, the students gained a clearer sense of the paths ahead.
With the new academic year underway, the class is looking ahead to the opportunities to come. The hope is that students in Class 3 of the 2025 cohort will continue to bring enthusiasm for research and optimism about the future to their exploration and hands-on experience, growing along the way as they move into the next stage with greater determination.
