The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Computing-in-Memory Chips was established in 2024, affiliated with the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. Oriented toward core technologies and future industrial applications of computing-in-memory chips, the laboratory conducts foundational, original, and systematic research on new principles, new technologies, and new application methodologies. Focusing on key research directions such as novel computing-in-memory devices, large-scale integration technologies for emerging non-volatile memory media, high-computing-power computing-in-memory chip design, many-core heterogeneous computing-in-memory chip architectures, and application technologies for computing-in-memory chips, the laboratory carries out collaborative innovation to address critical scientific and technological challenges in the field of computing-in-memory, thereby advancing the development of computing-in-memory technology. The goal is to build an interdisciplinary ecosystem that integrates basic research, technological breakthroughs, application demonstrations, and industrial transformation, effectively promoting high-level collaborative research and creating an important base for gathering and cultivating outstanding scientific and technological talent.
Grounded in the frontiers of international academia, the laboratory has established a high-caliber research team led by leading scholars and has forged in-depth collaborations with multiple renowned enterprises in the industry. The expertise of its permanent research staff spans multiple disciplines, including memory manufacturing processes, large-scale integrated circuit design, advanced packaging technologies, integrated circuit trustworthiness, and EDA, giving the laboratory a distinct multidisciplinary advantage. Looking ahead, the laboratory plans to extensively attract high-level talent from both home and abroad, cultivate a large cohort of research backbones, and build a world-class innovation team. It will serve leading enterprises in the chip industry of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promote the demonstrative deployment and application of computing-in-memory chip technology, and provide strong support for the high-quality development of regional industries.
